In its heyday, Can Gili Vell was a highly productive flour factory. It still exists today, but it has fallen into a state of disrepair. Built on to the chimney is a five-story building, which, judging from its appearance, has also seen better days. Its fate seems to mirror that of the factory.

Can Gili Vell didn't share in the luck experienced by other, neighbouring industrial complexes. For example, located nearby is Can Gili Nou, which was rehabilitated by the company Securitas. Galetes i Xocolates Solsona Rius, another factory in the vicinity, is now home to the Retevisión offices.
