Taxis in Barcelona are very affordable. The taxi ranks are just outside the terminals, although sometimes you might find long queues waiting for a taxi. The ride to the city centre takes about 20 mins. depending on the traffic. In general terms, the fare to Plaza Cataluña is between 25 and 30 Euros. Bear in mind that there is usually a surcharge on Sundays and public holidays.

The opening of the new terminal has also affected the bus service that connects the city centre with El Prat. Before boarding the airport bus, make sure you know which terminal your flight leaves from.
Airport bus A1 goes to Terminal 1. Airport bus A2 goes to Terminal 2. They both follow the same route through the city, starting at Plaça Catalunya and stopping at several places, including Plaça Universitat and Plaça Espanya. Upon reaching the airport, however, they head to different terminals.
Both bus lines run seven days a week from 5:30am to 12:30am. They run at intervals of approx. 10 minutes. The A1 bus to Terminal 1 costs 5 Euros one-way and the A2 bus to Terminal 2 costs 4,25 Euros one-way.
You can also take the train from the city centre (Passeig de Gracia) or Sants Station to the airport. The airport train station is close to Terminal 2. Taxis are another, albeit more expensive, option.
