Pipa Social Club is more than just a bar full of smoking pipes overlooking Plaza Reial. This second story "secret bar" has had customers looking down on unknowing tourist for several decades and is an unique experience. . To gain entrance you must press the door buzzer at street level that triggers the lights to flash upstairs. Once you are brought upstairs you enter a six room apartment that appears to be from the late nineteenth century.
The bar is to the left when you come in and is watched over by a framed picture of Sherlock Holmes. They have a pool table in the back room where the walls are decorated with smoking pipes from all over the world. In the front room is a dance hall with tables and chairs to relax in – try getting a table by the windows over-looking the plaza. The bar serves a large selection of cocktails and has beer on tap. They have a great Mojito when the mint is fresh. The cocktails cost 5€ and the beers are 3.00€. They sometimes play live music and have salsa classes in the early evening.
