The Picasso museum is in a little side street on the south side of Carrer Princesa, near Jaume I metro station. It is housed in three medieval palaces,
The exhibition rooms are arranged in chronological order. They start with some surprisingly good works painted in the late 1890's when Picasso was still in his teens, and lived and studied in Barcelona. Further galleries cover the various phases of his artistic development. The last two rooms contain abstract canvases painted shortly before his death in 1973. The museum also houses an excellent collection of the artists' prints and ceramics and organises temporary shows about other artists and subjects related to Picasso.
