Going out in Barcelona is almost about choosing a neighbourhood, then go to one or more bars to get some drinks before 3 am.

The windy stone streets of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is one of the bests for hanging out, but also popular with tourists and filled with pickpockets... so hang onto your wallet and don't leave handbags lying around or hanging on chair backs. There plenty of fun bars always coming in and out of style. Plaza Real is where the majority of the action is at night, with clubs in and around.

El Born, one of the trendiest areas to be in, is always hopping, filled with trendy new bars, and clubs, after you've filled up on tapas in any of the numerous restaurants in the area.

By the water, near the old port and the olympic port you have two malls of discoteques to shop from, Maremagnum near the bottom of the Ramblas and Port Olympic, both of which tend to be filled with tourists having a good time.

L'Eixample, the modernist area above the gothic quarter, also has lots of good pubs and clubs. Calle Aribau has quite an assortment of bars and clubs, especially near c/Roselló, here, you have to walk a little more to find places, but it's worth it.

The area between Mariá Cubì and Diagonal Avenue tends to have more many natives than tourists with everything from chill bars to all night clubs.

The Gracia neighbourhood is becoming a good choice for going out, it has many little plazas each filled with bars which offer a place to relax and get a drink outside. Plaza del Sol, Virreina, and Rius i Taulet are always filled with people out. A favorite among the expatriates.

Tibidabo and Montjuïc are posh and pricey, but worth it if you're into that scene, with views of Barcelona from above and offer dancing on their terraces.
