Q · We are a family with young children and would appreciate some recommendations on where to stay in the city.
A · We would recommend an apartment in one of these neighbourhoods: Eixample, Arc de Triomf or La Barceloneta. The first two are quiet, safe residential districts with a family-friendly atmosphere. The latter, La Barceloneta, is a very authentic, homely quarter (once home to fishermen), livelier in nature than the first two and directly on the beach. If you have small children, we recommend finding an apartment with a lift for added comfort – please check the listed amenities carefully to make sure the apartment meets all your needs!
Q · I’m disabled and use a wheelchair. Are any of your apartments adapted to my needs?
A · Unfortunately, we don’t have any apartments specifically adapted for wheelchair access, but we do have several that due to their individual characteristics could meet your needs. Several apartments in our listing are on the ground floor, have wide doorways or spacious lifts. In terms of areas, we would recommend the Eixample or Arc de Triomf. These neighbourhoods have wide streets and sidewalks, making them easier to navigate in a wheelchair. Please contact us so that we can help you find the best apartment!
Q · I am a senior citizen and looking for an apartment with a lift that is easily accessible and located in a quiet, comfortable area.
A · The majority of our apartments have lifts. To see whether the apartment of your choice has one, please check the amenities listed with each apartment description. In most buildings the lift is located at the same level as the entrance, but sometimes it is a little higher and accessible via a couple of steps. If this is a matter of concern to you, please contact us so that we can help you find the most appropriate apartment. Both the Eixample and Arc de Triomf areas are safe, quiet residential neighbourhoods, with wide avenues and easy access to most necessary services (supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, etc.).
Q · We are a group of young people looking to be right at the centre of things – nightlife, shopping, fun...
A · The entire city centre is a hub of activity, all day and all night long, especially during the summer. The Raval, the Gothic Quarter, the Born, Las Ramblas are all great areas for anyone wanting to be in the thick of things. The Raval is the new hip neighbourhood, equal parts chic alternative crowd and authentic immigrant culture, which is reflected in its nightlife. The Gothic Quarter draws a mixed crowd of tourists and locals to its countless bars, clubs and restaurants. The Born is very hip, full of pretty people, who flock to its many designer establishments. Finally, Las Ramblas, the city centre’s main street, is a great place for people-watching and home to a few nightclubs, tons of bars and restaurants, but be aware that these are mostly frequented by tourists. Depending on the size of your group, we have several apartments in the same building that can accommodate up to X amount of people.
Q · We are in our fifties and here to celebrate a special occasion. We want to stay somewhere safe and upscale.
A · The Eixample and the Passeig de Gràcia are both excellent choices. The Eixample, the city’s refined modernist district, is characterised by its beautiful buildings and quiet, residential atmosphere. Passeig de Gràcia is Barcelona’s most elegant avenue, home to Gaudì’s architectural masterpieces La Pedrera and Casa Batllò, designer shops and some of the city’s most luxurious hotels. Upscale holiday rentals are one of our areas of expertise, and we manage several elegant, beautifully furnished apartments in both areas.
Q · I’m travelling to Barcelona for a business conference and would like to stay somewhere close to the congress centre.
A · The Fira de Barcelona Congress Centre and Fairgrounds main location is on Plaça Espanya. We have a few apartments in the lower Eixample and Sant Antoni, between Plaça Espanya and Plaça Catalunya (the city centre’s main square). However, we also have apartments in Arc de Triomf, a pretty, quiet residential district, which lies directly on the red underground line (Metro L1), making it easy to travel back and forth between this area and Plaça Espanya (trip takes about 10 minutes each way).
Q · I am coming to Barcelona on business and need a quiet place with internet access.
A · Many of our apartments are equipped with internet access. Please check the amenities listed with each apartment description so as to ensure that you choose an accommodation that features this service. Most of the neighbourhoods around the centre are quiet and residential in character, making them ideal choices for anyone coming to the city for work. The only area that is truly loud and busy most of the time is the city centre (El Raval, Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas). Please contact us if you have any questions about the type of internet access featured in our apartments.
Q · We are a couple coming to Barcelona for a long weekend and want to be as close to the city’s famous sites as possible.
A · Although Barcelona has interesting sites scattered throughout the city (Parc Güell in uptown Barcelona, Gaudì’s buildings on Passeig de Gràcia, Sagrada Familia), the majority of them are located in and around the old city centre. Our apartments in the Gothic Quarter and the Born are ideal for exploring the centre, especially if you are only in the city for a short time. The Gothic Quarter area around the Cathedral is particularly charming as it still shows traces of the ancient Roman settlement of Barcino. The centre also has direct public transport connections (underground/metro, buses, etc.) to sites located in other parts of the city.
Q · We are two couples looking for a place at the heart of all the action – bars, restaurants, important tourist attractions...
A · We have several wonderful two bedroom apartments in the Gothic Quarter, Born and on Las Ramblas. These are all areas within the city centre, walking distance from a plethora of bars and restaurants as well as important sites like the Barcelona Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, the Ciutadella Park and many other museums and cultural attractions. The marina is also just a short walk away from any of these three centrally located areas.
Q · We are a gay couple looking for a pleasant apartment in a gay-friendly area.
A · Barcelona has a vibrant gay community, centred in the Eixample, particularly the area between Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça Espanya, just above Gran Vía. However, the entire city is very gay-friendly, and we manage lovely apartments in a variety of neighbourhoods, such as the Born and the Gothic Quarter, which are also excellent choices – close to many of the city’s important sites and well connected to other areas by public transport.
Q · We are a group of friends coming to Barcelona for some cultural tourism and are looking for an upscale apartment with all necessary amenities.
A · Upscale, top quality apartments are our area of expertise; we specialise in fully equipped, wonderfully decorated apartments in elegant areas of the city such as the Eixample or the Passeig de Gràcia. The Eixample offers refined surroundings, characterised by some of the city’s most beautiful modernist architecture. Along Passeig de Gràcia, the city’s most elegant avenue, you’ll find top designer names like Prada, Louis Vitton, Vinçon as well as Gaudì’s masterpieces, La Pedrera and Casa Batllò. Sophisticated restaurants and bars abound along the area’s wide avenues, and public transport provides easy access to museums and important sites located in other parts of the city.
Q · We are looking for a budget apartment. The area is not important as long as the price is reasonable.
A · Many of our apartments on Las Ramblas – the city centre’s main street – and in the Gothic Quarter are very reasonably priced, simple and clean accommodations. In addition to being comfortable and cheap, these apartments are located right in the city centre, making it easy to explore Barcelona’s lively downtown area and many of the city’s important sites. If you are travelling with friends, look at our group apartments – these tend to be cheaper per person than renting several smaller apartments.
Q · We are a couple on a romantic getaway – any recommendations?
A · Romance is such a subjective thing! But here are some ideas. If you hear romance and think your best outfit and lavish, expensive dinners, then Passeig de Gràcia might be to your liking – Barcelona’s most elegant avenue is full of impressive architecture and culinary gems. The Gothic Quarter, particularly the part around the Cathedral, with its quaint narrow streets, old-world charm and picturesque buildings is romantic in that classically European way. If you like your romance well designed and pretty to look at, then the hip Born – with its fusion restaurants and boutique atmosphere – is just the ticket. And if all these urban frills just strike you as a distraction from what really matters – you and your special someone – then you might enjoy the seaside charms of La Barceloneta...and long walks along the beach.
Q · We are two families going on vacation together, but we need our own space!
A · We can definitely provide you with exactly the kind of accommodation you are looking for! We have several pleasant, comfortable and fully equipped apartments located in the same building so that each family can have their privacy, but be just down the hall from each other. In terms of neighbourhoods, we can offer this type of set-up in a variety of locations, such as the Eixample – residential and quiet-, Las Ramblas – right in the middle of the lively city centre -, El Born – very chic and trendy – and Sant Antoni – a quiet residential district just outside the city centre.
Q · We are a couple of friends looking for an authentic neighbourhood, preferably close to the beach...
A · La Barceloneta, where we have quite a few apartments, is a charming and thoroughly authentic seaside neighbourhood. This old fishing village still has a down-to-earth, homely feel to it and some truly stellar seafood restaurants. The beach is about five minutes walking from any apartment in this neighbourhood. However, other areas like the Born – a chic gathering spot for the city’s fashionable people – and the lower Gothic Quarter – full of fun little shops and interesting restaurants – are also good options as long as you don’t mind a short (15 minutes) walk to the beach.
