Semproniana

At Semproniana different eras and cultures come together in a way that has almost become a Barcelona trademark. The creativity of the interior design is matched by charming decorative details like the handmade menus and the imaginative cuisine. A select menu of quality dishes, portions in keeping with the trendy ambiance (small and highly aesthetic) and comparatively high prices make this a good spot for a romantic dinner or other special occasion.

Type of cuisine: innovative nouvelle cuisine.

Typical dishes: "Brazo de un gitano moreno" (cannelloni stuffed with black butifarra sausage and topped with a creamy parmesan sauce), shrimp tartar, inventive salads, duck magret. The restaurant also serves 10 homemade desserts, including the decadent "deliriums tremens de chocolate." The wine list is extensive, including more than 200 options, most of them from different Spanish regions.

Atmosphere/décor: a delightful, romantic restaurant with many unique details. As you step into the large, open space, divided into different areas by columns and drapes, you enter a world of velvet curtains, soft lighting, enormous chandeliers and tasteful background music. The carefully crafted details and paintings add an artistic flair to this already original interior. Baroque elements like the crystal chandeliers are complemented by the warehouse feel of the open space, resulting in a thoroughly contemporary atmosphere.

Extras: Smoke-free restaurant. Patacuchi, a cooking workshop for children between the ages of 4 and 10, is provided every Saturday during the school year from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. The workshop costs 16€ per person and includes the workshop and meal.
