These surprisingly well preserved medieval villages of the Pyrenees, Costa Brava and inland are quietly waiting for you just outside of Barcelona. This tour takes you deep into the spirit and history of Catalan culture that few Barcelona visitors ever get to see or indeed know about. You will explore 500-1000 year old villages, enjoy scenic walking and trekking routes and experience a hearty, authentic Catalan lunch as a reward at one of the local restaurants. The walking and trekking routes are not compulsory  and come only as a recommendation. While these charming villages are still inhabited, you will not find the crowds of Barcelona on your heels on this day excursion. These Pyrenees villages have been amazingly well preserved and find themselves in the middle of great hiking and walking routes. Far from bustling Barcelona, the loudest sounds you’ll hear on these small group day trip adventures are streams and rivers.

After a short drive from central Barcelona, you begin your adventure by exploring a village’s winding cobblestone streets and buildings dating back more than 500 years. You’ll find unique photo opportunities at every turn, as these villages are authentic communities where life simply goes on around you as you pass through exploring. Following coffee or tea at a local café, a short or long hike or walk through wooded trails reward you with streams, rivers, waterfalls and spectacular views of forested valleys such as La Garrotxa and Ripolles. A picnic at the top of a waterfall or a leisurely lunch in a traditional Catalan restaurant provides the perfect touch to these culture-adventure day excursions before returning to Barcelona.
