Accommodation and more

When travelling with children, renting an apartment with BCNinternet, usually works out much cheaper and gives you greater flexibility & freedom than staying in a hotel. For example, you decide when meal times are, and can cook food that your children like, at a fraction of the cost of eating in hotels or restaurants (although children are widely tolerated in bars & restaurants too). Apartments are more spacious than hotel rooms, so there is more room for your children to play, and you can normally have separate bedrooms too. Many apartments also offer extras such as cots for babies, high chairs, board games, video/DVD players, Televisions or even game consoles.which children & therefore parents appreciate.

Things to do

Barcelona is a great city to visit with children as there is so much for them to do. Below are some ideas of activities that will keep little ones amused in Barcelona itself & close to Barcelona.

Tibidabo Funfair "The Magic Mountain"
Mirador Torre Collserola
Barcelona Zoo
Barcelona Aquarium
Camp Nou Football Stadium
IMAX Cinema

Tibidabo Funfair "The Magic Mountain"

Situated just behind the city of Barcelona, at the top of a mountain this is a great funfair to visit. The journey up the mountain in the enchanting turn-of-the-century Blue Tram and funicular railway is hugely enjoyable. The rides are not particularly hair-raising but new management are adding more state-of-the-art attractions, including a multimedia "experience" which lets children become part of a cartoon.

In complete contrast, there's a fascinating mechanical puppet museum which dates back to the opening of the park in 1899.

Tibidabo is one of the highest points in the city and the views of Barcelona and the surrounding areas are truly spectacular. Getting there: Get the FGC, which goes from Placa Catalunya (amongst other places) to Avinguda Tibidabo, then follow signposts to Tramvia Blau which is taken at the end of Calle Balmes in Plaça John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Take Tramvia Blau to the Mirablau and finally the Funicular to the top of the mountain.
Admission: Adults 15 euros, children under 110cms in height, 4 euros. Prices allow unlimited use of the attractions and rides.

Open: weekends and fiestas only until June, then daily in July and August.

The telecommunications tower at Tibidabo has more dizzying views from its 288-metre height , accessed by an external glass lift. Open Wed-Fri 11am-2.30pm & 3.30-7pm. Also open on public holidays;. Take the funicular to Tibidabo; there's free transport to the tower from Plaça Tibidabo. Normal entry costs 4.6 euros, and there is also a Science museum here.
